Awaken Arts

Awaken Arts, is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that uses the arts as a healing tool for people that have been through traumatic experiences. Our mission is to provide unique arts programs that fosters creative expression and collaboration, because we believe that when we create together, we heal together.


Sunburst Youth Academy

Over 2,000 students from Sunburst Youth Challenge Academy (SYA) have participated in Awaken Arts’ Catalyst program and they continue to bring their program to SYA throughout the year. The Sunburst Youth Challenge Academy at Los Alamitos is a Community High School, run by the California National Guard in partnership with the Orange County Department of Education. The Academy is a 5 1/2 month long residential “military style” academy structured to promote an academic environment where they will earn 55 High School credits, develop leadership, cooperation, and academic skills, while improving self esteem, pride, and confidence.


Hollywood Heart

Our mission is to nurture resiliency, creativity and community through collaborative arts programming for at-risk youth. We serve young people facing serious challenges including HIV/AIDS, homelessness, foster care, and the judicial system. Hollywood HEART uses the arts to create a pathway from school to success through two complementary programs: the week-long arts intensive Camp Hollywood HEART and in school and after school Educational Arts Workshops.

Covenant House was founded in 1972 with the simple, profound mission to help homeless kids escape the streets. Today we are the largest privately funded charity in the Americas providing loving care and vital services to homeless, abandoned, abused, trafficked, and exploited youth.


The Water Rescue Foundation

Moses West, just completed a full year creating and serving a million liters of free, clean drinking water to the people of Vieques, Puerto Rico. Moses West is driven by a single goal; to provide clean drinking water to people in need. The Foundation was formed to ensure that the groundbreaking technology—
Atmospheric Water Generation—is available to the people who need it most.

"We [the Water Rescue Foundation] bypass the inefficiencies and bureaucracy that impede progress, deployment and implementation of this new and innovative technology,” remarked Moses West, founder of the Water Rescue Foundation. “I, for one, will not stand to let one more day pass without doing my absolute best to ensure this technology is provided to the people that need it the most."

“The goal of Regular Hero is to work with the community to inspire positive change,” says Curtis Harkness, Executive Director of Regular Hero. “By bringing together partners for the Regular Pure Water Coalition, we will help bring options to residents to solve the clean water crisis in Flint, and that in turn will be used in other places that need clean water. We don't do this for recognition or power. We simply believe that all people deserve clean water—no matter where you are from or who you are. Everyone can be a Regular Hero. Just do what you can with what you have right now and help make things better.”
